US Airways Center formerly America West Arena, located at 201 East Jefferson,
Phoenix, AZ 85004, was built in 1992 and is the home of the NBA’s
Phoenix Suns as well as the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury. The
building also plays host to the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL, the
Phoenix Sandsharks of the MISL, and the Arizona Rattlers of the
AFL. US Airways Center is owned by the city of Phoenix and cost
approximately $90 million to build. The arena was financed through
city bonds, loans, and private debt. The local airport in Phoenix is located only
six miles from US Airways Center and there is parking for 1,000
cars on the lot of the facility. The Suns have retired five players
into their hall of fame over the years including Paul Westphal
(#44) and Dick Van Arsdale (#5). US Airways Center features 88
luxury suites and almost 2,300 club level seats while offering
an average ticket price well below average in both the NBA and
the NHL. NBA tickets can be purchased for as little as $11 a ticket
and hockey has that beat with tickets as low as $9.50.
