American Airlines Arena-
Address: 601 Biscyane Boulevard
Miami, FL
Home of: Miami Heat (NBA)
Date opened: 1998
Capacity: 20,000
The American Airlines Arena, not to be confused with the American
Airlines Center located in Dallas or the America West Arena located
in Phoenix, is located at 601 Biscyane Boulevard, Miami, FL. The
Arena has been the home of the Miami Heat of the National Basketball
Association since the 1999 season and is one of the few professional
basketball stadiums that is the home of only one team. American
Airlines is paying around $2.1 million a year over 20 years for
the naming rights of the building with that money joining the
funds from the team itself to cover the $175 million needed to
cover the cost of construction. The American Airlines Arena has
parking available for almost 1,200 cars as well as parking around
the arena for others. The average ticket costs less than $40 per
ticket and every one of the 20,000 seats at the American Airlines
Arena is a great one. Many of the concourses in the American Airlines
Arena will give the fan a view of the Miami city skyline and other
areas of the arena will give you a view of the bay located nearby.
The arena’s aisles move more in an upward direction as opposed
to outward so that the fans are closer to the action at all times
and 9,600 of the 20,000 seats are located in the lower “bowl”
of the arena’s configuration.
